A silvered glass seen from above on a semi reflective surface. The hemispherical interior of the glass contained within its lip suggests deep space and the shape of the glass, a lens. There is a lot of contrasting colour and detail within the glass so I enlarged the scale of the subject to “enter” its internal shape. I also wanted to see if I could hold the composition together and create a feeling of watery reflection, liquidity and light in the space around the glass. The title refers to the playful references of the picture - a glass for a (possibly) alcoholic drink and its resemblance to a lens for viewing the night sky.
